All About Camping and Tent Resorts!
Glamping in the Philippines is a rapidly popularizing activity that more and more are starting to get to know. The term is short for glamorous camping, and in essence, it allows its practitioners to experience the joys of camping without having to worry about the difficulties that it brings. All glampers ever have to think about is the feeling of being enveloped by nature, the beauty of living in the outdoors, and the fun of being away from home in exotic locations.
So Why Go Glamping?
Aside from it being a one-of-a-kind experience, it’s also a great way to relax without having to worry about the hustle and bustle that daily city life brings. It’s a unique way to spend your time too – especially if you’re the outdoorsy type. The solitude, peace, and tranquility that glamping brings is simply something that cannot be experienced as potently if one were to attempt it in an urban setting.
What Brought About Glamping?
Today there exist many ways to glamp here in the Philippines – in tents, resorts, bahay kubos, or any quasi-outdoor lodging is sure to do the trick. But, you may ask about the origins of this practice. Why do people glamp, and how did it all start?
It all began with traditional camping.
Like many other things we enjoy today, glamping has its roots in another, more “classic” activity. Camping.
The recreational type of camping most people know of can be traced back to one person: Thomas Hiram Holding, a British tailor with a fondness for the outdoors. Taking inspiration from his camping experiences in his youth, he shared his love for the outdoors by propagating information about the activity in his 1908 camper’s handbook. The next few years saw rapid development of this practice and it has since evolved into what we see today.
On the other hand, glamping has similar roots. Beginning in early 2005 in the UK, it appealed to an audience that wanted to stay in the lap of the outdoors without having to worry about basic needs and amenities. In truth, it brought the concept of glamping to a whole new level, adding the perks of luxury and comfort into the mix, making it all the more appealing for those seeking an easy vacation. One of the best parts about it is that it’s not very expensive either. The price wholly depends on the amenities taken.
Other origins of glamping:
In the early 1900’s, the safari experience was all the rage for rich European and American travelers who wanted to journey to the exotic wilds of Africa. However, none of them were willing to forego the comforts and luxuries of home, so they brought with them their items. These affluent individuals had their tens fully furnished – beds, rugs, furniture, and even decorations were still made part of the camping experience. Even staff such as butlers and chefs were not exempt.
This practice has now evolved into our current trends of glamping where, in countries all over the world, themed sites such as luxury camping resorts, eco-resorts, safari camps, and other types can accommodate every want and need.
Tent Resort Glamping
Depending on where you’re going glamping, tent resorts could offer a wholly different experience from one place to another. However, the base of it all remains the same: you’ll be camping in a well-furnished and comfortable tent complete with all basic amenities covered.
Either way, it’s a wholesome adventure ready for everyone to enjoy!
